1. Either I’ve been in a slump or too busy to care. Let’s call it too busy to care and move on, shall we? I just realized I hadn’t updated anything since Thursday and Thursday’s post was a random attempt at posting something. When in doubt (or a slump), I usually fling a few photos on here and write around them. Now you know.
2. My friend Chelsea could win $1,000 in a haiku contest. She needs your vote because her poem is now down by about 200 votes. You could make all the difference for her. Please send a little cyber-love in her direction (and maybe she’ll buy me something cool with her $1,000).
3. My parents are here right now. They came for the Friday night Cardinals game. This is the game I bought 46 group tickets for a couple of months ago. It rained most of Friday, making us waver in our decision to go. Then I came down with tendonitis in one of my left toes, making walking a circus act. With two hours to go, the Cards announced a rain delay and we decided not to go. They ended up playing anyway and won 11-1. Typical.
4. My dad brought his chainsaw and tool box and handy-manned the list we’ve accumulated for him since the last time he was here. On this list included things like dismantle the rest of the playhouse and take it to a landfill, fix a window in the garage M9 threw a baseball into at the end of last summer (we’re so on top of things around here), repair a large frame that houses Craig’s rock star poster, pry off the lids to my wheat buckets, and other such important things. My mom voluntarily cleaned the girls’ room, organized their bookshelf, and made a crazy conscious choice to un-mom my ride.
Thanks, Mom and Dad!
5. Five. Five more weeks to go in the school year. I feel like someone has stomped on the accelerator and we’re zooming towards the finish line. I’m a little fearful of the sudden stop at the end. Oh, who am I kidding? Bring it on!
Now the meme, from Chelsea:
A One-Word Meme (which is really more like a one-phrase meme):
You’re feeling: like I’ve forgotten to do something major
To your left: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs on VHS
On your mind: unfinished writing projects
Last meal included: French Fries
You sometimes find it hard to: believe the best in others
The weather: the kind that makes us feel guilty for not being outside
Something you have a collection of: hymnals
A smell that cheers you up: Downey Vanilla and Lavender
A smell that can ruin your mood: damp carpet in the basement
How long since you last shaved: about two hours (yes, I waited to answer this meme until after that task had been accomplished)
The current state of your hair: tangled and in need of a new style for the summer
The largest item on your desk/workspace (not computer): basket-o-stack (basically like a pile, only horizontal)
Your skill with chopsticks: they make good fondue poker things
Which section you head for first in a bookstore: children’s literature
Something you’re craving: the ocean
Your general thoughts on the presidential race: this would imply that I think general thoughts about the presidental race
How many times have you been hospitalized this year: zilcho
Favorite place to go for a quiet moment: right where I am – on the couch after 11pm
You’ve always secretly thought you’d be a good: baker
Something that freaks you out a little: very tall, blonde men*
Something you’ve eaten too much of lately: chocolate chip cookies (the homemade kind, not the bakery kind)
You have never: bungie jumped
You never want to: speak in front of large groups of people
Tagging…Anne, Kristen, Monica, and Nikki
*It just occurred to me that I might need to clarify that a little bit. By freaked out, I sort of mean just that. I don’t mean it in the “wow, he’s a cutie” kind of way. I would never say anything like that, for I’m happily married, you see. I mean it in a weird, “I find very tall, very blonde men to be strange” sort of way. I have no idea why, but I always have a hard time trusting those guys. I know. It’s weird. But they freak me out. I think they freak Craig out too for the same reason. That must be why we’re married.

Thanks for the publicity. I’m working on my concession speech (should it be in haiku form?) but I appreciate the help, anyway!

I collect hymnals too – they are a wonderful thing to have many of!

Greetings,
I have run into you twice today on the web so I thought I would actually write and say hello (and introduce myself since we have never met!). I first “met” you this morning from Monica’s blog – clicked on your name from her Meme post and enjoyed reading about your family. Monica is a friend from birth – our mom’s went to college together.
Then, this evening, while lurking over my hubby’s shoulder as we perused Facebook, your page came up as a friend of Brian Wachter! Brian and my husband were roommates throughout college. Monica and Brian have only met once – the weekend they were both in my wedding. CRAZY! So here in cyberworld, among the millions, I have bumped into you twice in one day. Makes me wonder what God is up to
So who am I? I am a military wife who loves the Lord and can’t wait for heaven. Mother of 2 girls, with a heart for more. I am a Nebraska native currently surviving in West Texas.
Best Wishes to You!
